Inauguration of Post Graduation Studies and Research Centre

            The inauguration of Post Graduate Studies and Research Centre of St. Philomena's College was held on June 22, 2017 at 3.00 pm in the graceful presence of His Excellency Most. Rev. Dr. Thomas Vazhapilly, Bishop Emeritus, and with blessing of his Excellency Most. Rev. Dr. K.A. William, Bishop of Mysore.

In the inaugural address by Rev. Fr. Thomas Vazhapilly said that as far as St. Philomena's College is concerned, it is being expanded at all levels every year. He expressed his immense pleasure of taking part in the program. He also stated that the entire progress of the college is due to the valuable effort of Rev. Fr. Leslie Moras, Rector of the college. He congratulated all those who worked and contributed for the expansion of the institution and he expressed his gratitude to the well-wishers. He said that the management has been planning and working for the strengthening of Post Graduation departments of this prestigious institution and it has become a reality today with an additional Research Centre. He expressed his hope that the college would become a University in near future.

Most Rev. Fr. Dr. K A William in his address to the audience stated that hard work makes everything possible and that is what we find here today. The Diocese is always proud of the achievements made by the management and the authority of the college. He expressed his gratitude to Rev. Fr. Leslie Moras as well as many others who worked for the college. Student’s dedication, involvement and commitment would make these infrastructure and new facilities more useful, he added.

Rev. Fr. Leslie Moras in his speech introduced the added features of the college and said the college has got two additional floors which can accommodate sufficient classrooms, labs, Studio and Library. He said the students may never feel the inadequacy of air and light while inside the classroom. We have set up three conference halls with all basic facilities and have also set up an elevator for five floors.

Prof  Ruth Shanthakumari, Principal, St. Pilomena's College, Fr Bernard Prakash Barnis, Rector-designate, Prof Krishne Gowda, Retired principal of the college, Rev. Fr. Dennis Noronha, Senior most Priest were present on the dais. Both teaching and non teaching staff and students took part in the ceremony.
